My Songs.

A few years back I started booking my band on swing dance nights in SF when The California Honeydrops was on break. I found cats in SF and the East Bay that fit the styles I wanted to play and Kid Andersen became my first call on the upright bass. He has that big old school sound and beat that I love with the gut strings and the right approach. People at the shows were grooving' on the group but we didn't have any albums to sell at shows.

Kid mentioned that he had a studio and suggested we make a recording date ASAP. We soon found ourselves at the funky groovy Greaseland (check out the link to Youtube for a video of our session) run by Kid himself. I also invited out my buddies Lorenzo Loera (piano) and Beaumont Bradbury (drums) from the Honeydrops to join the rhythm section. We added my longtime comrade Eric Jekabson (trumpet) on half the tunes, and Lloyd Meadows on the one vocal number.

The songs are a bunch of ideas I had running through my head over a few months. We did all the recording in a day, a few takes per song. I didn't want this session overthought. Just some groovy spontaneous music. Hope you dig it!!
